The Russians Tatyana Rvacheva and Andrei Lamov head the individual standings at the end of the first round of the World Cup. Russia is also the strongest team overall in the Nations competition.

08.12.2013 Ski Orienteering World Cup: Norwegian triumph in men’s Sprint
One second was the margin for Lars Moholdt, Norway in victory over Andrey Lamov, Russia in the men’s Sprint, the final competition of the World Cup first round at Ylläs, Finland. In the women’s class it was a clean sweep in all individual distances for Russia’s Tatyana Rvacheva; her win today was by two seconds ahead of Tove Alexandersson, Sweden.

07.12.2013 Ski Orienteering World Cup: Rvacheva victorious again
Tatyana Rvacheva, Russia tasted victory for the second time in two days when she won the replacement Middle distance race today by the impressive margin of 37 seconds. Her compatriot Andrey Lamov won the men’s race by 21 seconds.

06.12.2013 Ski Orienteering World Cup: second win for Tunis
Home athlete Staffan Tunis gained his second win of the World Cup round in the mass start Long distance race at Ylläs, Finland today, but took the lead only in the last kilometre of the 24.0 km course. The women’s race was won by Tatyana Rvacheva, Russia who led throughout.

05.12.2013 Ski Orienteering World Cup: home win in Mixed Sprint Relay
The first relay event of the 2013-14 World Cup, being held at Ylläs, Finland, ended with a convincing victory for the Finnish team of Milka Leppäsalmi and Steffan Tunis. They finished 13 seconds in front of Sweden, with Russia third.

The organisers of the Ski Orienteering World Cup 2013-2014 Round 1 in Ylläs, Finland will be staging a replacement Middle distance event on Saturday 7 December, after the results of the Tuesday event had to be declared void.

A serious problem with the batch of electronic punching devices used by competitors in the first World Cup race at Ylläs, Finland, an individual race over Middle distance, resulted in the race being declared void.
