WSOC in Japan received an Imperial visit
The World Ski Orienteering Championships in Japan in the beginning of March received a distinguished visit during the championships in the form of a visit from the Japanese Imperial House.
Their Imperial Highness Crown Princess Kiko, who has been interested in orienteering since 2019, together with her son, Crown Prince Hisahito, made an official visit to the WSOC 2026 held in Rusutsu, Japan on 6th March.

Their Imperial Highnesses served as presenters at the flower ceremony of the Sprint Relay, handing over the bear mascots to the medalists.
Their Imperial Highnesses watched the Sprint Relay, attended to the flower ceremony and the awards ceremony, and offered congratulatory remarks to the medal and diploma winners. They also attended a children’s experience event held the following day, providing support such as advice on skiing and map reading.

The Japan Orienteering Association views the attendance as a demonstration of their recognition of the value of orienteering and international events.
