Sweden to host World Cup Round in 2027

Sweden will also welcome the world’s best orienteers in 2027, where one of the year’s World Cup Rounds will be held in the Hälsingland-region.

There will be three forest races: Long, Middle and Relay in the forests around the town of Alfta.

The preliminary dates for the races are 3 – 6 June, 2027.

“We are looking forward to the World Cup coming to Sweden again and are impressed by how the Swedish Orienteering Federation increases the visibility of orienteering through hosting international orienteering events like these. We feel certain that the organisers will deliver a world-class event with both excellent sporting competitions and great spectator experiences,” IOF CEO Henrik Eliasson says.

From this year onwards, the World Cup enters a new era, where IOF will manage and develop the event with strong support from the parties in Switzerland (Verein Swiss Cup), Sweden (Svensk Orientering Events AB) and Czechia (Czech Orienteering Federation), who have all declared their interest in organising recurring World Cup Rounds.

This year, the Orienteering World Cup will start in Idre Fjäll, Sweden with three forest races from 19-22 June. In 2026, Skara-Lidköping, Sweden will host three sprint races from 28-31 May.
