IOF World Ranking system

The IOF is in the process of commissioning a new service provider for the IOF World Rankings in all disciplines. 6prog, who has maintained the World Rankings for 13 years, has indicated that they do not feel able to continue to run the rankings in 2014. President Brian Porteous comments: “We regret but respect their decision on this matter and I want to thank them for their years of loyal service to our sport.”   

The details of the new service will be announced shortly. Until that, information needed for ski orienteering to complete the season will run normally on the 6prog site.

The World Ranking system for foot orienteering has been changed for 2014. The principles were discussed at the Presidents’ Conference, and after hearing the national federations’ views, the Council approved the new system in October 2013. The basis for the changes for 2014 were to recognise the importance of our most prestigious events as a major contributor to the World Ranking Scheme, to ensure all nations who conduct a World Ranking Events will have participants contributing to World Ranking Scheme and to improve the value of our Regional Championships as a contributor to the World Ranking Scheme.
