The IOF’s Environment Commission has been dormant for some time, but now efforts are being made to revive it. A new chairman has been appointed, and work is underway to recruit new members and define its main tasks.

Tove Alexandersson, Sweden and Matthias Kyburz, Switzerland are the clear leaders in this year’s World Cup standings after the three counting races in the European Championships. They lead by 43 and 117 points respectively.

28.05.2016 European TrailO Championships, PreO competition: Gold medals for Gerdtman and Jansson
Overnight leaders Stig Gerdtman (Open) and Ola Jansson (Paralympic), both SWE, retained their form on the second day of competition to take the gold medals. The two placed second at the half-way stage, Jari Turto FIN and Vladyslav Vovk UKR fell back today, with Vovk taking bronze and Turto out of the medals.

28.05.2016 European Championships: Finland wins women’s relay
Finland won the women’s relay, courtesy of an exceptional last-leg run by Merja Rantanen. The silver medals went to Sweden and the bronze to Russia.

Switzerland showed their strength in depth in the men’s relay today, their on paper second team taking the gold medals and the first team finishing fifth. Norway and the Czech Republic are the men’s silver and bronze medallists after a tight-fought race.
