Even Alexandersson can get tired!
Tove Alexandersson is the “super-woman” who appears to be on top form the whole year, but even this Swede can have times when it’s a bit tougher.
During the winter the 21-year-old athlete became both European Champion in ski orienteering and second-best overall in the World Cup. It’s just a month ago that the winter season was over.
“I am not so well prepared for orienteering right now. I am feeling a bit tired”, she says.
– Oh! You can be a bit tired mentally too?
“It’s not in my mind where the problem lies”, the Swede laughs. It’s her body that needs some time to be back at top level. It’s also not right now that she wants to perform at her very best. “The World Championships is the main goal for the season”.
– What’s the goal for the week in Portugal?
“To perform well”.
The second-year senior is not running in the Sprint at the weekend, but that’s not just because of the short time between the seasons. “It’s a very tough time, so even if I had been in my best shape I don’t think I would have taken part in everything”, she says.
On the Long qualification Tove showed she still has plenty of strength, coming second in her heat.
