23.02.2014 Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: relay golds for Sweden and Finland
The strong favourites Sweden won the women’s relay today by a margin of almost 5 minutes, whilst the men’s relay was won by Finland by an even bigger margin, more than 7½ minutes. The Finns showed strength in depth, with their second team finishing second in the race.

22.02.2014 Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: double Russian gold in Sprint
Russian athletes were placed first in both women’s and men’s classes in the Sprint today, the winners being Liubov Balandina and Sergey Shalin. In the European Youth Championships, Russians again took both gold medals.

20.02.2014 Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: repeat win for Finland’s Tuomala
The second competition day of the Championships featured the Long distance race, in three loops with a mass start. Misa Tuomala, Finland won the men’s race for the second year in succession, but by only 3 seconds in a thrilling finish. In the women’s race it was success for Evelina Wickbom, Sweden who enjoyed a comfortable victory over her compatriot Frida Sandberg.

19.02.2014 Junior World Ski Orienteering Championships: good start for Frida Sandberg
Last year in Latvia, Frida Sandberg from Sweden won all the individual women’s gold medals in the Junior World SkiO Championships. This year, still a junior, she has set her stall out again with a clear win at Middle distance, the first race in the 2014 Championships in Estonia. Jonas Madslien Bakken, Norway, second at this distance last year, won the men’s gold.

The early bird dealine for entries to the World Masters Orienteering Championships to be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1-8 November, is 20 February.
