The IOF Council has now granted Final Approval for use of Emit Touch Free Punching (version 2013 and onwards) at World Ranking Events.

17.07.2014 World Orienteering Championships: promotion and relegation outcomes
From this year onwards, qualification for the Long and Middle races at a World Orienteering Championships (WOC) is by a points system based on results at the previous two World Championships. Federations are placed into three men’s divisions and three women’s divisions. For WOC 2015 and onwards, a promotion and relegation system comes into effect.

As the former chairperson of the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission, Mikko Salonen (FIN) was elected to the IOF Council at the XXVII General Assembly, the Council appointed Aron Less (HUN) new chair of the Commission.

The Special Rules for Orienteering World Cup 2015 have been published.

15.07.2014 World Orienteering Championships: Switzerland heads medals table
Switzerland was the most successful competing nation in Italy last week, winning three gold and four silver medals and one bronze medal. There were seven medal-winning nations in all.
