22.07.2014 Junior World Orienteering Championships: Sprint golds to New Zealand and Sweden
The first race of the Championships, the Sprint, was held today in urban and park terrain in the town of Samokov in Bulgaria. The men’s title was taken by Tim Robertson, New Zealand, bronze medallist in the corresponding race last year, and the women’s went to Sara Hagström, Sweden who beat last year’s champion Heidi Mårtensson (Norway) by 5 seconds.

Three races, three victories: that is Emily Benham’s haul from this weekend’s World Cup races in Skåne, Sweden. The Great Britain rider has proved herself to be master of all three formats – Sprint, Middle and Long. Russia’s Anton Foliforov had a second win in the Long Distance race today – he also won the Middle race.

Great Britain rider Emily Benham is on a roll! Today she won a World Cup race for the second day in succession, this time the Sprint by the close margin of 3 seconds. Lauri Malsroos, Estonia was the winner of the men’s race with a 30-second lead.

The second round of this year’s MTBO World Cup is being held as part of the O-Ringen event in Skåne, Sweden. Athletes from 22 nations are taking part. The first races over Middle distance were won by Emily Benham, Great Britain and Anton Foliforov, Russia.
