18.08.2016 The 2016 World Trail Orienteering Championships: back to Sweden
Having gone full circle as it were, the World Trail Orienteering Championships (WTOC) return this year to Sweden, where the very first edition took place.

They have it in cycling. A World Champion jersey. Now it will be a thing in orienteering as well, with IOF introducing World Champion jerseys in FootO, MTBO and SkiO.

18.08.2016 Here will WOC be decided: Map and terrain descriptions
Since WOC took place in Finland in 2013, the world championships have visited Italy in 2014 and Scotland in 2015. Now Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships are back in Nordic terrain represented by the area around the Swedish cities Strömstad and Tanum.

13.08.2016 World Masters Orienteering Championships: Most golds to Finland in Long Distance Final
Finland with seven and Sweden with six gained the biggest gold medal hauls in the twenty-three competitive classes in today’s Long Distance Final in Estonia. Gold medals went to eleven nations in all.

It's not just the athletes who will be busy in Strömstad 20-27 August. There are lots of important meetings and interesting seminars going on throughout the week, many of which are open to the public. During orienteering's biggest week of the year, anyone who is interested in orienteering should find something to interest them.
