The World Orienteering Championships are a celebration of clean sport

The World Championship competition is one of the top summer sporting events in Finland and also a grand celebration of fair play. The championships have declared themselves an international clean sporting event. The direction is clear: clean athletes deserve all the glory! At the same time, the message of clean sport is travelling from Finland to reach all corners of the world! Come and talk about fair play and the values of sport at the Clean Win programme’s information stand!

At the Vuokatti championships, clean sport is symbolised by the Golden Baton, which travels around to international sporting events organised in Finland. The Golden Baton challenges its receiver to promote clean sport and to commit to its values. The orienteers are in good company: over the past few years, the same challenge has been accepted by the World Championships in floorball, synchronised skating and ice hockey, just to name a few.

Come and take a stand for fair play

At the championships, the Finnish Antidoping Agency’s Clean Win programme will introduce itself to both the athletes and the audience. Together with FINADA, the message of clean sport is being passed forward in close cooperation with the International Orienteering Federation (IOF), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the event organiser.

The Clean Win programme promotes clean sport and honours the values of fair play. It puts the spotlight on athletes who play ethically: respecting their sport, their competitors and themselves. Everyone has an equal right to clean sport.

The Clean Win programme information stand will be open in Vuokatti on Monday 8 July from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday 9 July from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and talk about clean sports. You can also test your knowledge about antidoping questions and win cool prizes.

We will also be collecting signatures for the grand petition on behalf of clean sport Those who sign the petition will be making history together: the aim is to collect the world’s largest petition on behalf of clean sports. You can sign the petition at the Clean Win information stand or online at www.puhtaastiparas.fi. The medalists at the competition are also taking a stand for clean sport by signing the petition.
