MTBO World Cup final: double Czech victory in Sprint

Winners in today’s Sprint, the final race in this year’s MTBO World Cup staged in the outskirts of Kaunas, Lithuania, were the Czech riders Martina Tichovska, by 28 seconds, and Krystof Bogar by the impressive margin of 1:05.

The Great Britain rider Emily Benham, already crowned winner of the World Cup overall, had to settle for second place for the second day in succession, with Finland’s Ingrid Stengard taking third place on the podium with a time 30 seconds slower than Benham’s. There were three Finn s in the top six in this race.

Lauri Malsroos failed in his bid to make it three wins in a row; he was unable to match Krystof Bogar’s speed and accuracy on the day, but came second, 3 seconds faster than Grigory Medvedev, Russia. His compatriot Ruslan Gritsan, who was second in the Long Distance race, was disqualified today.
