Following Orienteering LIVE is more popular than ever

Yesterday’s exciting sprint finals which concluded with gold medals to Maja Alm from Denmark and Daniel Hubmann from Switzerland had enormous interest from around the World. 4 countries showed the Sprint Final live on national TV, while 139 countries will show the race as full or highlighted replays over the coming days!

Also, the IOF’s live service in LIVE Orienteering could feel the interest with 3 000 persons watching the stream from the races. Unfortunately, this interest was more than expected at the beginning of the women’s final and some of the users could feel the capacity for the page was limited. During the women’s race, the capacity was increased and the live chat that was using a lot of the capacity was taken away. The capacity will be kept high for the whole WOC to keep up with the interest. LIVE Orienteering is still a page in development so it is expected some further changes over the coming days as well. The sprint final also had an enormous interest in social medias with a reach of over 250 000 seeing the posts and engaging close to 5 000 persons to like or share IOF’s posts from the Nokian Tyres World Orienteering Championships.

Today you can follow the sprint final in LIVE Orienteering from 17:05 EET (Eastern European Time). In DenmarkEstonia, Finland (in Finnish and in Swedish!)and Sweden you can see the event in TV. Do not forget to follow IOF in our social medias to get more information about the World Championships and “behind the scenes”. The event is also possible to follow via the local organisers live blog, and don’t forget to post your own posts with the hashtag #woc2017.
